Mississippi is gearing up for another exciting Outdoor Track and Field season in 2023, especially in the High School Boys distance events.

The preseason rankings have Sidney Stegall leading every distance event from 800m to 3200m. Stegall leads the 1600m once you factor in his impressive performance of 4:20.5 in the full mile at the 2022 Music City Track Carnival.

Jaheim Bridges of Tupelo also ranks inside the top four in each distance event, including No. 2 in both the 1600m and 3200m. Bridges, who was the 2022 MHSAA 6A 1600m Champion, will be a formidable competitor for Stegall this season.

Other standout distance runners include Miguel BankstonTaylor Brown, Gabe McElwain, Jaquavion Bryant, and Jack Hewes, all of whom are expected to make an impact on the Mississippi High School Boys distance running scene, among others.
