As the new season of high school boys cross country kicks off in Mississippi, all eyes are on the teams that have shown promise and dominated the track in the past. And when we talk about dominance, one name clearly stands out: The Pearl High School Pirates.
In 2022, the Pirates not only etched their name in the annals of Mississippi high school sports but also rewrote the record books. They showcased a powerhouse performance, becoming the maiden team in history to have six runners break the 17-minute barrier in the 5K(XC). If that wasn't enough, they went on to claim the coveted MHSAA 6A team title. Their depth and proficiency, arguably the best in Mississippi's cross country history, remain undiminished in 2023.
