The 2023 Mississippi High School Girls Track and Field season looks to be exciting with a strong presence in the sprints events.

Valencia Watson, the reigning MHSAA 5A 100m and 200m champion, is the easy leader in the High School Girls 100-meter dash and is ranked second in the 200m dash behind Nakyiah Walker of Independence High School, who is the reigning MHSAA 3A 100-meter champion.

Independence also boasts Caydence Brewer, the only runner who has gone under 58 seconds in the 400m dash, doing so at the 2022 MHSAA 3A Track and Field Championships to win her first-ever class title.

With many other talented sprinters such as Addison McLaurin, Addison Yelverton, Zharia Bonner, Tacherria Lawson, Mahria Miller, and many others, the Mississippi 2023 Outdoor Track and Field season promises to be fast-paced and competitive in the High School girls' sprints!
