The 2023 Mississippi High School Girls Track and Field season looks to be one to look forward to, and based on how successful the 2022 Cross Country season was, the 2023 Outdoor Track and Field season shows even more potential.

Jessica Cartwright of Hernando High School, the 2 x MHSAA 6A Champion in the 1600m, leads the way in both the 800m and 1600m events. With five more MSHAA 6A competitors in the top eight in the 800m run along with the graduation of reigning MHSAA 6A 800m Champion Mallory Streetman, the MHSAA 6A Girls 800m seems to be the event to watch at the 2023 MHSAA 6A Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

In the 3200m run, Ella Rankin of Hartfield and Brookelyn Morgan of Tupelo are expected to compete for the top spot. Both runners have shown great potential, have several class titles under their belts, and they could give the 11:30 barrier a real scare this season.
