On the girls' side, two of the greatest field athletes Mississippi has ever seen are returning to competition.
First up is Charve Gibson, the reigning state record holder in the triple jump and the top returner in both long and triple jump. As just a sophomore, she already ranks 15th in the nation among triple jump returners, and she's only getting better. With her talent and trajectory, she has a strong chance to improve her own state record and climb even higher in the national rankings.
In the pole vault, Julie Segroves continues to dominate. A state record holder and one of the nation's top vaulters, she has already rewritten her own record multiple times, with the mark now standing at 13-8. Heading into the season, she is the 8th-best returning pole vaulter in the country. With her skill and consistency, she has the potential to rise even further and cement her place among the best vaulters in Mississippi track and field history.
