The girls' class of 2024 for Mississippi's Cross Country season is brimming with extraordinary talent, as young athletes prepare to leave a lasting mark on their high school careers.

Headlining this pack of gifted runners is Hernando High's Kaitlyn Burge, boasting an impressive 5K PR of 19:11 from the 2022 Watson Cross Country Classic. An accomplished long-distance runner, Burge has eyes on her first-ever MHSAA 6A title this season. With PRs in the 400m, 800m, and 1600m events, Burge looks ready to blaze the Cross Country course this Fall.

Close on Burge's heels are Emma Ruffin from Caledonia and Riley Jackson, Burge's teammate. Both athletes have clocked in under 20 minutes in their best performances last season. Ruffin achieved her 5K PR at the 2022 Pontotoc XC Invitational, securing fourth place.
