Pearl High School currently holds the top spot in the early-season squad rankings for the boys' 800m dash with an impressive time of 2:05.48. The Pirates are known for their prowess in the 800m and 1600m, and it's clear that they're once again a force to be reckoned with in the middle-distance events. Led by Tanner Moore's 2:00.11, Pearl has a solid average time of 2:05.48, and they're likely to get even faster as the likes of Brendan Clark and JaQuavion Bryant have yet to compete in the distance.

Right behind the Pirates is Clinton High School, who currently holds the state record in the 4x800m relay with a time of 8:05. Clinton's squad average is 2:05.75, with Miguel Bankston leading the way with an impressive 1:59.32. Clinton is also likely to get faster as 4:35 miler Christian Parks has yet to run an open 800m this season.

Tupelo High School rounds out the top three with a squad average of 2:08.89. The team is led by Jaheim Bridges, who has already run 2:05.80 this season...
