It's been a second since we had a performer of the week poll, so before we jump into this week's poll, I will highlight some of the recent performances that very well could have won the performer of the week from weeks prior.
Devin Kelly(Pearl High School): Tied state lead in the 100m(10.48)
Kentravian Kinkle(Holly Springs High School): New state lead in the 400m(47.66), currently ranked U.S. #30
Markeith Thompson(Natchez High School): New state lead in the 300mH(37.43), ranked top ten in the country.
Kingi McNair(Pearl High School): New state lead in the long jump(25-0), currently ranked U.S. #3
Schyler Chambers(Jackson Academy): New state lead in the triple jump(48-3), ranked top ten in the country.
Andrew Brown(Tupelo High School): New state lead and record in the indoor two-mile (9:22.39) and one-mile (4:15.70) at New Balance Indoor Nationals
Jake McMillan(Madison-Ridgeland Academy): New state lead and record in the indoor 60mH(7.90) at New Balance Indoor Nationals.
With those athletes highlighted, let's jump into this week's nominees for performer of the week. You're going to recognize some of these athletes from the list above, as they have only improved from their prior performances.
Andrew Brown(Tupelo High School): New state lead in the 1600m(4:17.13)
Markeith Thompson(Natchez High School): New state lead and MS #2 all-time in the 300mH(36.97), currently ranked U.S. #5. Also ran a new state lead and MS #7 all-time in the 110mH(13.97), currently ranked U.S. #20. Also competed in the long and triple jump.
Demetrius Tate(Pascagoula High School): Competed in long jump(24-2) for a MS #2, currently ranked U.S. #15. Also competed in triple jump(45-10) for an MS #4 spot.
Schyler Chambers(Jackson Academy): New state lead and MS #7 all-time in the triple jump(48-7.25), currently ranked U.S. #12 all-conditions and U.S. #5 for FAT/Wind Legal marks
Elijah Morey(Brandon High School): New state lead and tied for MS #10 all-time in the high jump(6-10), currently tied for U.S. #8.
