Event to Watch: The 1600m

There are so many Mississippi studs in the 1600m at the 2022 Last Chance Invitational that it gets its very own page. When I say this event is stacked, I mean STACKED. Just about everyone who is anyone decided to enter in the 1600m at Last Chance. If you take the total number of boys that broke 16:10 in the 5k in the 2021 cross country season, over half of them are entered in the 1600m. If you take the 2021 All-MHSAA 6A Cross Country Team, once again, over half of them are entered in the 1600m. Once you take that stat line and throw in the 2021 Cross Country All-MileSplit Mississippi #1 ranked runner Keegan Leverett, we have ourselves a loaded field. While everyone isn't necessarily in the same heat/meet, I see some fast 1600m times coming our way in the near future, with a chance to completely rewrite the Mississippi High School Boys Top 10 All-time list. 

My prediction: 5 under 4:30 and 12 under 4:40
