MileSplit Mississippi Boys 2020 Review

When you look to review you have to consider all three seasons even though we do not have an "official" indoor season. So the order of seasons is Indoor, Outdoor, and Cross Country (XC).

Corvin Johnson, Pearl High 60 meter hurdles

---

Looking at our indoor season we have a few standouts like Martinez Bogan, Clinton High in the 400 meters. Brock Kelly, Tupelo Christian was dominant in the distance races ranking first in the 800, 1600, and 3200-meter races. Corvin Johnson, Pearl High ranked first in the 60-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles. In the field events Camrun Norman, Hattiesburg High long jumped 21'10.5" and high jumped 6'6". Indoor track would be much more competitive if teams could cross state lines without having to hire buses or go in cars. Of course, we could solve this if one of our Universities or a city builds an indoor track arena. If they followed the Crossplex example it could be a multi-use arena not just for indoor track

Camrun Norman, Hattiesburg High at Pass Christian.

The outdoor season was cut short by the pandemic but we did see a few outstanding performances. Cameron O'Neal, Biloxi High ran a super 10.47 on Gulfport High's always fast track. Yes, it has been measured but it was school timed not timed by a professional timer. There were no wind readings posted. Brock Kelly, Tupelo Christian started the season strong with 4:29.21 and 9:45.80 in two meets but of course, did not get the chance to improve those times. Camrun Norman, Hattiesburg High again looked good in the high jump (6'10") and the long jump (22'5"). Willie Hedrick, Pearl High showed out postseason with a 170'0" discus throw.
