We all know that if there were a state championship meet between every school in Mississippi, a big school like Clinton or Pearl would probably take the cake most years. But every team has its specialty. In this mini-series, we're gonna score each team based on only certain events to see who really shines in each category. First up: field events.
Scoring is based on the top ten athletes in each field event - discus, shot put, pole vault, long jump, triple jump, and high jump. If you're ranked 10th in the state, you get 1 point. If you're ranked 1st in the state, you get 10 points. Stack those up for each school, and whichever team has the most points gets the crown as the best field squad in the state.
With all that out of the way, here's how this fantasy field-only meet would've played out.
