As we anticipate another exhilarating season of Mississippi cross country, eyes are fixed on the ninth-grade boys returner rankings for the 5K event. The leaderboard is teeming with prodigious talent, but at the top of the chart, one name stands out: Tupelo's sensational young runner, Andrew Brown.
A year removed from his eighth-grade season, Brown is already ahead of the curve with a blistering 16:05 5K time, a feat he accomplished on his home course. His meteoric rise in cross country culminated with an astonishing fifth-place finish at the 2022 MHSAA 6A Cross Country Championships.
Looking ahead, it's impossible not to be intrigued by the potential of the Brown brothers, Andrew and his older sibling, Taylor, in the coming cross country season.
