*Meagan Womack, Clinton High School

Meagan Womack, a senior from Clinton High School and Mississippi State signee, kicked off the weekend with a strong display of her throws at the Southern Miss High School Invitational, winning both the Varsity Girls Discus and Shot Put.

Womack, who has been on a winning streak as of late, also made a noticeable jump in the Discus with nearly a four foot personal best for another new Mississippi No. 1 mark, and also places her as ninth in the nation in the event.

Womack also defeated Shaneal Corpuz of Biloxi, the 2022 MHSAA 6A State Shot Put Champion, and fans can definitely look forward to more thrilling battles between these two and more in the future.

Brodie Ezell of Brookehaven High also kept his winning streak alive. He threw the farthest of any Mississippi boy this past weekend in the Discus by seven feet and three inches, currently the Mississippi No. 1 in the event.

He also coupled that with a season-best in the Shot Put, placing him fourth in the state rankings.

Ken Andrews of Clinton HS put on a remarkable performance over the weekend. The senior threw the farthest in Shot Put out of any boy this past weekend with another massive personal best. That was the third weekend in a row that he had set a personal record. Andrews battled it out with out-of-state competition and came out on top by almost two feet.

Aryn Eady, a junior from D'Iberville, was arguably the most consistent thrower of the weekend, pulling off an impressive back-to-back meet day double in both throwing events. On Thursday, she competed at the Hurricane meet where she won both events and set a season-best in the Shot Put.

The very next day, she competed at the Southern Miss High School Invitational and earned second place in the Discus. Coincidentally, she also did this double last year at the same two meets and beat her Discus mark from that year by almost 20 feet.

Laynce Henderson of Center Hill, Brayden Warner of East Rankin, and Devan Drennan of Simpson also had notable performances. Henderson is undefeated in both Shot Put and Discus, Warner is undefeated in the Discus, and Drennan had two big personal records and wins at the Canton Academy Ice Breaker.
