Preview: HS Boys to Watch at the 2022 Pearl T&F Invitational

Corvin Johnson - Pearl High School

Making his 2022 debut, Pearl's Corvin Johnson will be running the 400m. He ended the 2021 outdoor season as the fastest 400m runner in Mississippi at 49.03. With only this event to focus on at the opening meet, could we expect a PR and a sub 49.0 400m from the senior? We will have to find out at the 2022 Pearl Track and Field Invitational.

Jerry Johnson - Pearl High School

The jumps specialist from Pearl, Jerry Johnson, is going to be doing it all at the 2022 Pearl Track and Field Invitational. In addition to his signature Long Jump, which is the event that he won a 2021 MHSAA 6A State Title in, he will also be getting some speedwork and running the 100m dash, as well as the 4x100m and 4x200m. Johnson has the potential to rack up some major points for his team both at the 2022 Pearl Track and Field Invitational, as well as the post-season come late April and May.

John Scott Kendricks - Oxford High School

Mississippi's Pole Vault King is ready for his outdoor opener. Dominating his indoor season by winning every meet and vaulting an impressive 15-7 early in the year, Kendricks is primed and ready for his junior outdoor year. His 15-8.5 PR is under some serious trouble...

Tanner Moore - Pearl High School

Starting his sophomore outdoor campaign is Tanner Moore from Pearl High School. After coming off an injury, Moore's one race of the indoor season was his 1600m of 4:37.37, very nearly breaking his outdoor best of 4:36.78 from the 2021 MHSAA 6A South State Meet. His progression is startling and it will be interesting to see how far he can go this year.

Dominic Turner - Pearl High School

Senior year is looking good for Pearl's Dominic Turner. Nearing his outdoor PRs in both the 800 and 400 during the indoor season, Turner's start will be considerably faster than last year. It will be exciting to see both he and Moore run in a competitive 1600m and 800m field at the 2022 Pearl Track and Field Invitational.
