Weekend Recap: 2021 Watson becomes deepest MS XC Meet Ever

Junior High Races

Boys

For the boy's middle school 3k race, Pearl's middle school squad won the team race with a score of 73 points, with Tupelo placing second scoring 87 points and Clinton scoring 108 points for the third place spot. Saint Patrick's Tristan Davis and Tupelo's Andrew Brown went toe-to-toe, with Davis winning with a time of 9:39 and Brown clocking in at 9:46. Both of these times were well under the 3k state record. Along with them, six other runners clocked in under sub 11, foreseeing the future talent that Mississippi has to offer.

Note from the State Editor: To put it this way... That race was AWESOME!!! Easily the best Junior High race I have ever seen - They opened up in a 5:03 mile for crying out loud! The future of Mississippi cross country looks very bright ladies and gentlemen, and I can't wait to see these 2 go at it in the years to come.

Girls

In the girl's middle school 3k race, Tupelo, Germantown, and Madison were evenly separated by 5 points each to take the podium spots. Tupelo won with a team score of 90 points, with Germantown scoring 95 for second and Madison scoring 100 for third. Tupelo's Abbey Sanders took home the individual win with a time of 12:06 with her teammate Kaelyn Fair placing second with a time of 12:24, with Brookhaven's Isabella Iles and Germantown's Elise Fisher right behind  running 12:25 and 12:26, respectively. Pearl's Mari-Fran Lewis and Elliott Neal along with Germantown's Mary Greer Flowerday all went sub 12:45 as well.
