Helen Roddy is the second-fastest ranked freshman in the state, with a 5k PR of 18:08. Roddy trains with junior teammate Madie Boreman, 4:46 miler and 2x state champion, and teammate Haley Timmons. The three took 1st-3rd in the district, leading Rouse to a district championship for the first time in the 6A division. Roddy hopes to break 18 minutes for the season and medal at the state meet.

An interview with the top ranked and fastest sophomore runner in California, Claire Graves. She has season best times of 16:31 for 3 miles at the Woodbridge Invitational and 17:42 for 5k at Brea Invitational.
David or "DJ" Principe is one of the top sophomores in the nation leading the US #2 La Salle Academy. He had a stellar freshmen year with PRs of 9:15 (3200m) and 4:28 (mile). He found success in some early season meets winning the Injury Fund XC Carnival in 15:27. Most recently at the Great American XC Festival, Principe led his team to a team title with his 7th place finish running 15:30. Future Stars Spotlight presented by Hoka One One.
One of the greatest stars ever in Alaska high school cross country is running now in Allie Ostrander. Well the next future star of the Alaska can quickly be found in two-time Alaska 1A-3A state champion Briahna Gerlach of Glenallen High School. After running a sub 11 3200 and 5:06 1600 last spring, the sophomore Gerlach won her second straight state title last weekend. Before she heads into her long winter hibernation from races, shares her thoughts on her successful first two years of high school cross country and promising years to come in the sport in our latest Future Stars Spotlight presented by Hoka One One.
In this Hoka One One Future Stars athlete spotlight, we feature Lakota East (OH) freshman Dustin Horter. As a eigth grader, Horter ran a 4:11.17 1500 and 2:04.96 800. He currently has the fastest time of all freshmen in the state and is ranked 4th among all freshman and sophomores with a 15:58.00.
