Moser & Attwood rip fast races at Cape Mike Zirkle Sep 11, 2009

Alex Moser (York pictured below) showed why he's the favorite to win the Class B state championship this fall today at Gull Crest Field in Cape Elizabeth. Moser was dominate in his race, as he led from the gun, and never looked back, his time was the third fastest ever run on the course, and on a day when the course wasn't in its best condition his effort riavled the best performances of all-time. Moser covered the 3 mile course in 15:27.1 to outdistance runner-up Reid Douty (Cape) by 1:12. Cape's Pete Brigham was 3rd in 16:50.

On the girls side it was over after the first 100m as Cape Elizabeth senior Emily Attwood (pictured right) was chasing the top times all alone. Attwood, cranked out the first 1k in 3:37 to establish a healthy lead. She would cross the line in 18:11.7, a fine performance and just off her 18:09.1 performance in 2008. Her teammate Kelsey Barton nabbed second in 18:49 (4th fastest individual on Gull Crest course), with Kendra Lobely (Poland) coming in 3rd 18:51 (5th fastest individual on Gull Crest)

The #1 ranked Cape girls triumphed 22-41 over a strong York Wildcat team. On the Boys side Cape edged York 26-33.
