2022 Miss. HSG Indoor Track and Field Preseason Rankings

400 Meter Dash

800 Meter Run

*Kaelyn Fair of Tupelo dropped a full 11 seconds in the 800m from indoor to outdoor in 2022, placing fourth at the 2022 MHSAA 6A Track and Field Championships. 

1600 Meter Run

*Tupelo's Brookelyn Morgan, also the preseason indoor leader in the 3200m, went on to defend her MHSAA 6A title in the 3200m, as well as a third-place finish in the 1600m at the 2022 MHSAA 6A Track and Field Championships. Sarah Litton of Ocean Springs earned the bronze medal in the 3200m at the same event, and Lafayette's Mia Dawson earned a bronze medal in the 1600m at the 2022 MHSAA 5A Track and Field Championships.

3200 Meter Run

*Abbey Sanders of Tupelo qualified in the 3200m alongside Morgan to the 2022 MHSAA 6A Track and Field Championships. 

60 Meter Hurdles

*Hattiesburg's Lenasia Drummond is one of the most versatile Track and Field athletes in Mississippi, and her stats from her 2022 Indoor Track and Field circuit show just that. Drummond leads the Preseason Mississippi High School Girls Track and Field list in the 60mH, Long Jump, and Triple Jump. Drummond went on to add four more MHSAA 5A titles to her resume in the jumps and hurdles at the 2022 MHSAA 5A Track and Field Championships. Clinton's Corshunna Hughes also added a class title to her resume, winning the 100mH at the 2022 MHSAA 6A Track and Field Championships. Fellow Lady Arrow Jenesis Williams placed third in the 100mH and fifth in the 300mH at the same event. 

High Jump

*Clinton's Aniya Madkin earned a MHSAA 6A title in the Long Jump at the 2022 MHSAA 6A Track and Field Championships, as well as a fifth-place finish in the High Jump. Pearl's Jayla Jones placed fourth in the High Jump at the same event. 

Long Jump

*Biloxi's Cheyanne Alston placed earned two medals in the Long Jump and Triple Jump at the 2022 MHSAA 6A Track and Field Championships. 

Pole Vault

*Northwest Rankin's Katelyn Hulsey went on to win her first-ever MHSAA 6A title, vaulting a lifetime best of 13-1.75 at the 2022 MHSAA 6A Track and Field Championships. Clinton's Kennedi McCord and Kate Jackson placed fifth and eighth in the Pole Vault at the same event.

Shot Put

*Meagan Womack, Mississippi High School Girls Indoor Shot Put record holder, went on to earn two medals in the Shot Put and Discus at the 2022 MHSAA 6A Track and Field Championships. Pearl's Anila Thomas placed fourth in the Shot Put, and D'Iberville's Aryn Eady placed sixth in the Shot Put and third in the Discus at the same event. 

Triple Jump
