Lauderdale County

Richard Lessman of Demopolis cruised to a 15 second win in the Boys Varsity section of the Lauderdale County Championship with a very respectable 17:09 5K. 

Virtasia Shepard took the girls individual title at the Lauderdale County Championship. Scott High School's Shepard was able to put a 13-second gap on second place to win in 21:31. 

Ocean Springs Invitational 

Ocean Springs High School boys go 1-5 at the Ocean Springs Classic, with a spread of 1:13, a fairly impressive feat. Leading the way was James Roberts, covering his home course in 17:35. 

Ocean Springs continued their dominance on the girls side, going 1-4 on their home course. Addison Rainey emerged victorious, running away from the field and winning by 58 seconds, as the only girl to break 21 minutes on the day with a 20:50. This performance marks Rainey's fourth straight win this season. 

Eighth grader Bella Graves ran an incredibly impressive 12:24 in the 2 mile, winning by a whopping 44 seconds. This 8th grader is certainly one to watch out for in the future. 

Jesse Owens

Andrew Brown and Graham Weiss ran very impressive races in their own right. Freshman phenom Andrew Brown ran a very respectable 15:45, while Weiss was right behind in 15:49, a lifetime best for the Hernando senior. 

No. 2 ranked Tupelo High School Boys placed 20th place in a very deep field at Jesse Owens classic, with both Andrew Brown and Taylor Brown breaking 16 minutes in the 5k and the rest of the squad all under 18 minutes. 

No. 6 ranked Corinth High School boys ran an impressive race at Jesse Owens for an 11th place in the Silver division. Leading the way for Corinth was Ricardo Venegas who was the only member of his team under 17 minutes, clocking in at 16:59. 

No. 8 ranked Corinth High School Girls, led by Junior Elsie Wilbanks, entered into Jesse Owens and placed fourth in the Bronze division. Wilbanks stopped the clock in a Mississippi top-10 performance of 19:27. 

In the Varsity Girls Silver 5K Division, Katherine Neal secured a lifetime best of 19:11.5 in the 5K, placing fourth overall. Additionally, the Pearl senior led the No. 7 ranked Lady Pirates to a 13th place finish and top Mississippi school. 

Mustang Stampede

Olive Branch High School's Caden Louder won the 4A-7A division of the Mustang Stampede Invitational, covering the course in an extremely fast time of 16:19. He became the fastest ever Mississippian to run on that course, an incredibly impressive achievement

Kaydi Blanchard from Lewisburg High School ran to a very impressive achievement of sub 20 minutes at the Mustang Stampede Invitational. Sneaking under the mark with a 19:59, she was the only lady on the day achieving the milestone. 

Rebel Run

Heritage Christian Academy's Dallas Stricker covered a very tough Blue Mountain course in 17:49 to win the Rebel Run Invitational. He also gained the impressive achievement of being the only athlete to run under 18 minutes on the day. 

Heritage Christian Academy's individual greatness continued on the girls side. Isabella Bailey won the Rebel Run Invitational in a speedy 21:08, winning the meet on the girls side by 38 seconds. 

Warrior XC Classic

The Warrior XC classic gave way to a very impressive victory on the men's side, with New Albany's Aidan Patterson taking the win by over 21 seconds with an 18:03, almost sneaking under the 18 minute barrier 

On the girls side of the Warrior XC Classic, Morgan Green took the victory. The Hickory Flat standout was the only girl to break the 22 minute barrier on the day, with a very respectable 21:54

The Hattiesburg Forerunners displayed great dominance in the Wildcat XC challenge, putting 5 men into the top 6. Leading the way for the Forerunners was Max Bowling with a winning time of 18:14. 

The Lady Hattiesburg Forerunners had another win on the girls side in both the team and individual aspect. Sydney Moudy held off Lola Webb of Christian Collegiate Academy, winning by 6 seconds in a speedy 21:42.

Maroon Invitational

Gavin Weinstein dominated the High School Boys 5K at the Maroon Invitational in Starkville, Mississippi, winning by a full one minute and five seconds. 

Canton Academy's Mackenzie Mercer earned her first win of the season, stopping the clock in the High School Girls 5K in 21:51.7, a 2023 season's best for the Senior.
