The Mississippi Cross Country Championships are already brimming with talent as the returning eighth-grade girls demonstrate their prowess on the course. Standing tall amongst them is Ally Murphy from Myrtle High School, who already holds three varsity titles under her belt from her seventh-grade season.
Murphy is a force to be reckoned with, being the lone returner to have finished the 5K in under 20 minutes. This astonishing 19:57 feat was accomplished at the 2022 MHSAA Region 1-2A Championships, held at the New Albany Sportsplex course. Her consistent performances have marked her as a formidable contender and a promising star in the making.
Trailing closely behind Murphy is Emma Raines of East Rankin Academy, an integral part of one of Mississippi's top girls' programs.
