The Mississippi high school cross country and track and field scene is well-known for producing talented young athletes, and Pearl High School's freshman, Andrew Tarter, is no exception.

As a rising star in Mississippi, Tarter has set the stage for a promising future in both cross country and track and field events. His remarkable accomplishments during the 2022 Cross Country season and recent Track and Field meets have made him a standout athlete to watch in the years to come.

Tarter's impressive 2022 Cross Country season put him on the map as a force to be reckoned with. Running a noteworthy 17:10 5K at the challenging Choctaw Trails, Tarter placed 12th in a stacked varsity regional, competing in the MHSAA 5-6-7 Super Regionals

Tarter's talents extend beyond cross country, as his recent track and field performances have also turned heads. In the 1600m, he showcased clocked in at an impressive 5:00, as well as 10:24 in the 3200m. 

Tarter's dedication and hard work have paid off, as evidenced by his recent victory at the Little Six Conference Championship. He won the 3200m and placed runner-up in the 1600m, solidifying his status as one of the top young distance runners in the Jackson metro area.
