This week's MileSplit Mississippi Future Stars Series highlights Hattiesburg Forerunners' Kaylie Frost, who stands out every race week despite her age.
Frost may only be a rising seventh grader, but she has the resume of a veteran. Already making a name for herself throughout the state at a young age, she is setting herself up for success each and every week on the grass and the track.
Frost's achievements stand out among others her age. She holds personal bests of 21:05.80 in the 5k leaving her at first in the rankings for her class, along with personal bests of 6:04.42 in the 1600m and 13:01.33 in the 3200m, placing her at second among those in her class.
Closing out her successful season, she competed at the 2023 Mid-South Homeschool Championships and placed in the top three for all four events she competed in. These events included the 800m, 1600m, 3200m, and the High Jump. Not only was she incredibly successful throughout her track season, but she also made a name for herself on the cross country course.
Along with her impressive PR in the 5k, she accomplished other stellar marks throughout her cross country season. Among these accomplishments was her placing third in the Mid-South Homeschool Championship in a field filled with talent and older competition.
Kaylie Frost and her path is not only noticed through her success. This young star has shown drive and dedication while competing against older athletes, proving that just because she might be younger, doesn't mean she won't push the limits and make sure she stands out among her peers.
As we keep our eyes fixed on her journey, we can see that she is moving her way up in the sport, and she is doing it very quickly, all while making sure we take notice of her and her promising future.
Stay tuned as we continue to cover the incredible journeys of Mississippi's young and talented rising stars in our next edition of Future Stars Friday!
