Clinton's Meagan Womack to Mississippi State University

Clinton High School senior Meagan Womack will be joining the Lady Bulldogs in Starkville, Miss. in the Fall of 2023.

Womack had a phenomenal 2022 Outdoor Track and Field season as an MHSAA 6A runner-up in the discus and podium finisher in the shot put.

After her junior year, Womack solidified herself as one of the best Mississippi throwers. In the shot put, she finished her 2022 Outdoor Track campaign ranked 1st in Mississippi. Boasting a PR of 42-.25, she was comfortably the best in state. Additionally, she ranked 2nd in the discus, holding an impressive PR of 136-5, only behind her fellow Clinton teammate, Kaitlyn Walker.

On top of these already impressive marks from her 2022 Outdoor Track and Field season, Womack also had a record-setting Indoor Track and Field campaign. In the indoor shot put, she set a new state record of 40-1.25, a record which had lasted 17 years. This sensational throw placed her as the best of all time in Mississippi and the best by over five feet in the 2022 Indoor Track and Field season.

Capping of her 2022 Outdoor Track and Field season, Womack competed in the 2022 AAU Junior Olympic Games. Here she had a sixth place finish in the discus and an eleventh place in the shot put.

While all this action happened over this past year, Womack still has her senior indoor and outdoor season to improve on her marks and win more MHSAA 6A titles, and add more state records to her name.

Womack will be joining fellow Mississippians Roury McCloyen and Kennedy Stringfellow, as well as recent Mississippi alumni Curt Carman and Madison Jones, among others.
