Oxford High School senior John Scott Kendricks announced his verbal commitment to join the University of Arkansas Track program, per his Instagram account.

Kendricks ended the 2022 Outdoor Track and Field season as an Adidas Track and Field National Champion and MHSAA 6A State Champion.

After just his junior year, Kendricks is an all-time great in the world of Mississippi Pole Vaulting. Kendricks finished his 2022 Outdoor Track campaign ranked 15th nationally and fourth in his class. His personal best of 16-8 also ranks him No. 2 all-time for the state of Mississippi.

Through the 2022 Indoor and Outdoor Track seasons, Kendricks won every single competition he competed in. This included a 6A State Title, where he jumped three feet higher than the second-place competitor. After the 2022 MHSAA State Championships, the Oxford junior competed in the Adidas Outdoor Nationals 2022. Kendricks won this event with a mark of 5.12m. This converts to 16-9.5 ft.

While all this action happened over this past year, Kendricks still has his senior indoor and outdoor season to improve on his marks and win more titles.

Kendricks will be joining an Arkansas team that placed seventh at the 2022 NCAA DI Indoor Championships.

Per his Instagram page, Kendricks said:

"Blessed and excited to announce I will be attending the University of Arkansas. So thankful to have this opportunity for all the coaches and athletes that have helped me through this process and thankful to my coach and father Scott Kendricks. Couldn't have made it this far without him. Ready for my next four years."
