Ollie Bailey is a tenth grader at Pass High.  He's already clocked an 18:19 5K this season and runs the mile and the 800M in track.  He had a very solid junior high career, highlighted by a12:54.98 in the two-mile.  Coach Bayer says, "Ollie is absolutely driven.  He is determined to break the school record and make All-State, and approaches his runs with college-level preparation."

DP: What is your name, what grade are you in, and what school do you attend? 

OB:  My name is Ollie Bailey, and I'm a 10th grader at Pass Christian High School

DP: What is your GPA and ACT score? 

OB:  My GPA is 3.63, and my ACT score is 18. 

DP: What is your favorite color? 

OB:  Blue 

DP: What is your current PR in the 5K? 

OB:  18:19 

DP: That's pretty good. What is the next goal, time, or mark that you are trying to hit? 

OB:  Hopefully break my school record of 17:24 and possibly go under 17 next race. 

DP: What is your favorite workout your Coach has you do? 

OB:  200 repeats 

DP: What is your least favorite workout? 

OB:  800 repeats 

DP: What are your plans after high school? 

OB:  Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to attend a major division 1 college for cross country and 

track and study to become an occupational therapist. 

DP: Cool, what motivates you to train? 

OB:  Knowing my success will pay off, in the long run, motivates me to train. 

DP: Do you have any superstitions on meet day or perhaps an odd pre-meet routine? 

OB:  Doing jumps in the air to get the heart rate going gives me energy. 

DP: Gatorade or Powerade?

OB:  Gatorade

DP: Why? 

OB:  I don't drink Powerade often, which is not as flavorful. 

DP: Jersey (singlet), tucked or untucked? 

OB:  Tucked 

DP: Do you have a favorite meal for the night before a meet? 

OB:  Pizza 

DP: Do you take ice baths? If yes, what do you think about during an ice bath? 

OB:  No 

DP: Name a lesson that cross country has taught you. 

OB:  Pain is temporary; once you master it, everything else will fall into place. 

DP:  Do you have a rival runner? 

OB:  I would say whoever is in front of me is my rival. 

DP:  Interesting; who is your team's biggest rival? 

OB:  I would say Long Beach or Ocean Springs because they are known for always winning. 

DP:  What do you do to recover after a meet? 

OB:  I like to jog right after my race and stretch afterward. 

DP: Saints or Bucs? 

OB:  Bucs 

DP: Wrong answer!  No, I'm kidding. What is your favorite thing about your coach? 

OB:  He always pushes me to be my best. 

DP:  Who is your biggest fan? 

OB:  I would say my dad is my biggest fan. 

DP:  What advice would you like to share with younger runners, maybe the JH kids on your team? 

OB:  Always work hard and always do the little things right because in the end it will be worth it. 

DP:  Have you had any injuries you've had to deal with in your career? 

OB:  No 

DP:  What is your greatest accomplishment in cross country? 

OB:  Placing 34th at state as a freshman. 

DP:  What is an outrageous fear that you have? For example, I fear sharks in a swimming pool.

OB:  I have a fear of snakes.
