In this week's edition of 'Future Stars,' we are highlighting Clinton High School's Omari Hampton!

Hampton is a freshman sprinter who has already set impressive times this indoor season. He is currently ranked second in the state in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.09, set at the 2021 Magic City Invitational on Dec. 4. Hampton is also ranked fourth in the state in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.08 from the same meet. On top of all of that, Hampton is also currently the #2 freshman in the nation in the 60m dash!

Hampton made his track debut in the 2021 outdoor season, competing primarily in the long jump, triple jump, and 200-meter dash. He finished second in the 200m at the 2021 Little Six 8th Grade Championship on March 30, 2021, with a time of 24.31. However, he went on to improve his 200m time by almost a full second the following June at the 2021 AAU Region 11 Qualifier at Southeastern Louisiana University. Hampton clocked a 200m PR of 23.38, as well as a 100mtime of 11.45.

Now competing in his first season of indoor track, Hampton's marks in the 60m and 400m show his continued improvement.  He is certainly an athlete to watch, and it will be exciting to see what he can accomplish this upcoming outdoor season, as well as the rest of his high school career.
