Top Returning JV Runners in the State

Next up on the girl's side is Ella Rankin of Hartfield Academy. She has not raced this season, but she is the defending MAIS 4A XC champion, which is also where she claimed her personal best of 19:58 in the 5k. She also finished 6th during the 2019 MAIS 4A XC State Meet.

This past track season, Rankin excelled and took home a second-place finish at the MAIS 4A 3200m in 12:04, right behind Layla Warren. She also recorded a personal best of 2:44 for the 800m and 5:49 for the 1600m.

Make sure to look out for the head-to-head races between the two MAIS 4A stars,  Layla Warren and Ella Rankin.

Moving on to the boy's side, Mika Meredith of Desoto Central High School showed out during his first-ever competition at the Golden Wave Season Opener. Meredith was entered in the 5k Varsity race and finished with a time of 20:39. Needless to say, Meredith has started off his cross country career strong and is only in 8th grade.
