BATTLE GROUND - Coach Ryan Hovde joined his team Wednesday in what has become a tradition for the Heritage boys cross country team, taking a sip out of the cup that sits atop the district championship trophy.

"That's good," he said, "much sweeter than last year."

That's because the Timberwolves opened this season with more questions than returning district placers.

But Hovde got his answers Wednesday as the Timberwolves raced to a third consecutive team title, outdistancing Skyview 52-68 at the Class 4A district meet at Lewisville Park.
