For our returning distance boys, the standout athlete is no other than Andrew Brown from Tupelo High School. Not only is he the fastest 1600m and 3200m returner in the state, but he leads both of those events by wide margins. During his short indoor season, he dominated the one-mile and 3000m races, breaking the state record in both. Furthermore, his 3000m time of 8:30.69 converts to a 9:08 3200m. This conversion puts him right on the brink of breaking the 9-minute barrier this season.
Even with this impressive resume, Andrew is still going to have some intense competition this year. Competitors Jaquavion Bryant from Pearl and Bailey Kosko from Oxford are both strong contenders that have already shown they have what it takes to be the best in the state.
