With the 2024 cross-country season underway, it is time for the return of Mississippi's Performer of the Week.

Athletes have already been putting great races across the state and are not slowing down anytime soon. Take a look at what the top performers accomplished this week and vote for who you think deserves the title of Performer of the Week!

Lilly Overby - Simpson Academy: Last weekend, Lilly Overby of Simpson Academy dominated The Opener race at Choctaw Trails. She won the day with a time of 18:41. Not only did she beat everyone on the course that day, but she also beat out the previous meet record by over 10 seconds.

Brookelyn Morgan - Tupelo High School: At the Tupelo Invitational, Brookelyn Morgan of Tupelo High School ran away with the win with her time of 19:27. She led her squad to the team victory and earned a new season personal best.

Samantha Edwards - Saint Aloysius HS: In a comfortable win, Samantha Edwards of Saint Aloysius HS took down the competition at the French Camp Invitational. Her time of 19:50 earned her a new personal best and a second-place team finish.

Melanie Holt - Itawamba Agricultural High School: At the Hickory Flat Invitational, Melanie Holt from Itawamba Agricultural High School won the 4-7A Varsity Girls race with a time of 22:03. This race was her first ever cross-country win and will definitely not be her last.
