Per meet management, the 2023 Woody Barnett Invitational, hosted by Pearl High School, has been officially canceled due to ongoing weather concerns. This decision comes in light of several other meet cancellations across Mississippi this week, including the Tupelo Invitational and the Biloxi Indians Invitational, among others.
The annual Woody Barnett Invitational was set to feature a multitude of exciting events, such as the highly anticipated elite Kersh 800m fields. Unfortunately, athletes and spectators will have to wait until next year to witness these thrilling competitions.
While the cancellation is undoubtedly disappointing for all parties involved, the safety and well-being of the athletes, coaches, and spectators remain paramount. MileSplit Mississippi urges everyone to prioritize their safety during these adverse weather conditions.
