In this week's edition of MileSplit Mississippi Future Stars, we are highlighting Pontotoc High School's Kayleigh Armstrong, the 2022 MHSAA Middle School Classic Medium School Champion.

Armstrong's recent success at the 2022 MHSAA Middle School Classic Medium School Championship has thrust her into the spotlight. Competing against some of the best middle school athletes in the state, Armstrong displayed remarkable determination and talent as she raced to victory, completing the 3,000-meter course in a personal best time of 12:17.02.

The challenging hills of Choctaw Trails were no match for this young distance powerhouse. Armstrong's performance not only earned her the title of champion but also signaled that she is a force to be reckoned with in the years to come.

The 2023 track season has been nothing short of extraordinary for Armstrong. Her natural talent and hard work have translated into impressive results, as she has consistently stepped up to compete at the varsity level. Her times of 6:43 in the 1600m and 14:02 in the 3200m are a testament to her dedication and potential.

As it stands, Armstrong is Pontotoc's fastest 3200m runner and second-fastest 1600m runner, an incredible feat for a seventh-grader.

As Armstrong continues to develop her abilities and gather invaluable experience on the track, the sky's the limit for this young athlete. Her impressive accomplishments in such a short period indicate a bright future ahead, and it will be exciting to watch her progress through the ranks of Mississippi track and field.
