This week's edition of MileSplit Mississippi Future Stars features Oak Grove High School eighth-grader Laylah Orange! Orange is an up-and-coming track star with an impressive early-season performance record.
Specializing in the 400-meter dash, Orange has already put together two runner-up finishes in just two competitions this season. Her lifetime best of 1:01.72 is currently ranked as the No. 1 middle school 400m performance in Mississippi, as well as No. 7 in the state overall.

What's even more impressive is that these performances came in the early season of February, and Orange has already shown significant improvement. With the potential to challenge the one-minute barrier, the Hattiesburg, Mississippi native could potentially make a run to the 2023 MHSAA 6A Track and Field Championships in the Spring.
Orange's dedication and hard work have already paid off in these early season performances, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for her in the sport of track and field.
