Chris Barnett and David Hopper garner Miss. XC Coach of 2022

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- On January 5, the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Pearl High School's Chris Barnett and East Rankin Academy's David Hopper have been named the 2022 Mississippi Cross Country coaches of the year.

Coach Barnett led the Pirates to an undefeated season, eventually securing the 2022 MHSAA 6A Cross Country title over several top programs. His guidance and leadership were instrumental in the team's success this season.

Coach Hopper and the Lady Patriots also had a memorable season, with a tiebreaker win at the 2022 MAIS 5A Cross Country Championships and a win at the 2022 All-Mississippi Cross Country Championships. His dedication to the team played a key role in their Hollywood ending to the season.
