The Ice Breaker and LSU High School Indoor Classic are two highly anticipated Indoor Track and Field meets that are sure to showcase some of the top talents in Mississippi.
At the Ice Breaker, Clinton High School will be a team to watch, with several standout athletes competing in various events.
Miguel Bankston will be one to keep an eye on in the 800m run, as he is the 2022 MHSAA 6A 800m champion and the No. 1 seed in the 800m heading into the meet. Meagan Womack is another standout from Clinton, as she is the Mississippi High School Girls Indoor Shot Put record holder and undefeated this season. The Clinton, Miss. native and Mississippi State signee will compete in her specialty event, the Shot put.

Tacherria Lawson and Omari Hampton lead the sprints for the Arrows; Lawson currently leads the state in the High School Girls' 60m dash at 7.71, and Hampton is a young talent that won both the 100m and 200m at the 2022 MHSAA 6A Track and Field Championships. Both are expected to perform well in the 60m dash at the Ice Breaker on Saturday.
RANKINGS: Mississippi High School Girls 60m List
Clinton senior Max Littleton will be competing in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump. He currently leads the state in all three of these events and will be a strong contender to bring home three gold medals at the Ice Breaker.
Other notable entries at the Ice Breaker include Brookelyn Morgan of Tupelo High School in the 3200m, Sterling Scott of Starkville High School in the triple jump, and Gabe McElwain of Walnut High School in the 1600m run.
Scott is a University of Missouri signee and the reigning 2022 MHSAA 6A Champion in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump, as well as the 2022 Adidas Outdoor Nationals Champion in the Triple Jump.

He is the No. 1 seed in the Triple Jump with a mark of 49-4.25, making him a strong favorite to take the top spot in the event.
Morgan is a talented distance runner who led Mississippi in the High School Girls' 3200m run last season with a mark of 11:44.

She is also the reigning 2021 and 2022 MHSAA 6A Champion in the 3200m, making her a top contender in the event at the Ice Breaker.
McElwain is set to make a splash at the Ice Breaker Invite, where he will be competing in the 1600m. The Walnut, Miss. native and Mississippi College signee is a talented distance runner who ended the 2022 Cross Country season as the No. 1 ranked runner in Mississippi with a 5K PR of 15:30. He is a four-time MHSAA 2A Champion and has a wealth of experience in the sport of distance running.

At the Ice Breaker, McElwain will compete alongside training partners and Tupelo High School standouts Jaheim Bridges and Andrew Brown. Bridges is the reigning 2022 MHSAA 6A 1600m Champion, and Brown is a middle school sensation with a promising future in the sport.
Together, these runners will make for a formidable team in the 1600m at the Ice Breaker.
At the LSU High School Indoor Classic, distance powerhouse Pearl High School will be a team to watch, with JaQuavion Bryant leading the way for the Pirates.
This will be Bryant's first outing after winning the 2022 MHSAA 6A Cross Country Championships. The Pearl sophomore is known for his fearless and confident racing style, which has helped him achieve success on the grass and track. He is the No. 1 seed in the 1600m run at the LSU High School Indoor Classic, and with a strong showing in Cross Country, he has a solid chance to take home the win in this event.

Bryant will be joined by 4:34 miler Tanner Moore. Middle-distance specialist Madeline Moore will compete in the 800m, while Maxi Duran and sub-16 5K runner Farren Oberto will test their talents in the 3200m run.
Outside of the Pirates, other notable entries include Oxford's John Scott Kendricks in the Pole Vault, Sumrall's Heidi Hudson in the High Jump, Biloxi's Julie Segroves in the Pole Vault, and Madison Ridgeland Academy's Rivers Godwin in the 60m dash, 60m hurdles, and 400m dash.
Kendricks, the 2022 Adidas National Champion and currently No. 2 in Mississippi history in the Pole Vault, is the No. 1 seed in the event at the Classic and has a strong chance to take home the win.
Hudson, competing in the High Jump, is undefeated in the event this season and holds the Mississippi High School Girls' Indoor High Jump record at 5-8.

Segroves, competing in the Pole Vault, is coming off an impressive 13-2 Mississippi state record at the Texas Elite Pole Vault Expo Explosion and will be a force to be reckoned with at the Classic. The Biloxi sophomore is the No. 1 seed and has a high chance to extend her undefeated streak of the 2022-23 Indoor Track and Field season.

Godwin, a hurdles specialist with a personal best of 39.7 in the 300mH, will compete in the 60m dash, 60m hurdles, and 400m dash at the Classic.
