As the 2022-23 Mississippi Indoor Track and Field season takes off, let's take a look at the early state leaders in each distance event through two meets of the Indoor Track and Field season.

Raymond High School's Tavon Davis, famous for his lightning-fast anchor leg in the 4x800m relay at the 2022 MHSAA 4A Track and Field Championships, currently leads the 800m at 2:04.90 and is also No. 2 in the 1600m at 4:50.87. Davis ran these marks at the Holiday Invitational #2

This is the first time the Raymond senior has competed in Indoor Track and Field. This headstart along with his newfound endurance from the 2022 Cross Country season should set him up nicely for multiple sub-two 800s in the Spring.

Casey Wright, part of the Clinton squad that set the state record of 8:06.07 in the 4x800m relay, sits at No. 2 in the 800m at 2:05.39. This is an indoor lifetime best for the Clinton Senior, doing so at the Magic City Invitational #2.
