Simpson Academy Girls (No. 2 in Mississippi)

One of the best High School Girls squads in Mississippi is back at it at the 2022 MRA XC Invitational. 

With two solid low sticks in Layla Warren and Lilly Overby and a strong 3-5 in Kinsley Welch, Emma Overstreet, and Caroline McAlpin, this team nearly has it all. They somewhat struggle in depth, but their scoring five have gotten it done on the day every time. 

With a solid chance to put two in the top three and five in the top 10 on Monday, we predict the Lady Cougars adding their third win of the season to their 2022 cross country campaign. 

Madison Ridgeland Academy Girls (No. 4 in Mississippi)

The Lady Patriots of Madison Ridgeland Academy will be looking to give Simpson Academy a run for their money on Monday at the 2022 MRA XC Invitational. 

Where Simpson lacks is MRA's strength, and that is their depth. 

Led by freshman Mae Ellen Mallet, she has gone 20:59 this season at the 2022 Opener. Another front-runner for the Patriots is Reese Johnson, who is MRA's No. 2 runner as just an eighth grader.

As a whole, they are definitely a young team, but they have a lot of potential and room to improve drastically and put pressure on Simpson Academy. It will be exciting to see this young team develop and see if they can contest for a win and add yet another MAIS 6A State title to their cabinet later on this season.
