Future Stars: Simpson Academy's Jayden Smith

For this week's MileSplit Mississippi Future Stars, we are featuring Jayden Smith of Simpson Academy!

As we all may know, Smith is coming off of a win in the junior high boy's section at the 2022 Early Bird 2-miler, covering 2 miles in a time of 11:54.60 and winning by 20 seconds.

This was an overall PR for Smith, as this was the first time he had ever broken 12 minutes in the 2-mile on the track or on the grass. 

Smith is also coming off of a 1600m PR of 5:46, earning that mark at the 2022 MRA Classic. 

Smith also placed 11th overall at the 2021 MAIS 5A Cross Country Championships and will be looking to improve upon that and go for an All-MAIS 5A finish this year. 

All in all, Smith is an aggressive frontrunner who has clearly worked hard this summer, and we can't wait to see him continue his progression this year.
