The Rundown: 

The third best high school girls cross country team in the state of Mississippi could be a lot of different programs, but in the preseason, it's looking like it's going to be MAIS 5A powerhouse Simpson Academy. 

Simpson is one of the programs in MAIS 5A that has elevated that class into the stacked, deep field that it is known as today. Their battles with East Rankin and Columbia have been nothing short of legendary. 

Here are some of their accolades as a team: 

- Winner of the silver division at the 2021 Watson High School Meet. 

- 2021 MAIS 5A Cross Country Runner-up (lost to East Rankin by 2 points) 

- 2021 Mississippi XC All-State Runner-up (lost to Columbia by 8 points)
