----

In this week's edition of 'Future Stars,' we spotlight Caleb Wilder of Leake Central High School!

Wilder concludes the 2022 outdoor season as Mississippi's fastest freshman in the 400m dash. The standout freshman won his division and north state meets en route to a third-place finish at the 2022 MHSAA 4A Track and Field State Championships. He ran a PR of 50.42 at state, which was the leading freshman time in the state this season by over a second.

Wilder builds on his success from last year, in which he was ranked the fastest eighth-grader in the 400m with a season-best of 52.13. Wilder qualified for state last year and finished sixth in the 400m at the 2021 MHSAA 4A State Championships.

While the 400m remained Wilder's primary event this year, he also dabbled in the high jump. He finished third at his regional meet in the event with a PR of 5-10.

With impressive performances in the 400m and substantial improvements this season, Wilder looks to have great potential for continuing success. We look forward to seeing what he achieves over the remainder of his high school career!
