This week's edition of 'Future Stars' features Noel Rice of Ocean Springs High School!
Rice is a seventh-grader who specializes in the 1600-meter run. At the 2022 MHSAA 6A South State Championships on April 23, she ran a PR of 5:40.69 to qualify for the upcoming 2022 MHSAA 6A Track and Field State Championships. This ranks her the third-fastest seventh-grade girl in the state in the 1600m this season.
Rice also made a strong showing in her debut cross country season last fall. After placing either first or second in all of her middle school races, Rice finished 10th in the 2022 MHSAA 6A State Cross Country Championships. Setting a PR of 20:18, she was the top middle school finisher in the race and also earned All-MHSAA 6A Cross Country honors.
All in all, Rice has had an impressive seventh-grade season in both cross country and track, and we look forward to seeing what she continues to accomplish moving forward.
