This week's edition of 'Future Stars' spotlights D'Iberville High School's, Julie Segroves!
Segroves is a talented freshman pole vaulter. With two outdoor performances under her belt so far this season, Segroves is currently ranked first in the state in the pole vault. She started the season off with a strong mark of 11-6 at the Harrison County Track Meet on Feb. 17. Segroves garnered first-place finishes in the pole vault at both the Harrison County meet and the Pearl Track & Field Opener two days later.
Segroves is following up a stellar eighth-grade outdoor season. She finished in the top three in every meet she competed in over the course of the 2021 outdoor season and became the MHSAA 6A state champion in the pole vault. With her PR of 12-7, set at the Jackson County Showcase on March 13, 2021, Segroves finished the 2021 season ranked first in the state in the pole vault for both middle school and high school girls.
With a 2021 state title and a strong start to the 2022 season, Segroves has proven that she is already a pole vault star. We hope to see her continue to fly high throughout the rest of this season and her high school career.
