FIELD
High Jump
Last weekend at the Magic City Invitational, Clinton's Maxiumus Littleton surprised us all as he burst onto the scene with a 6-2 High Jump, #4 All-Time, in seemingly his first-ever track meet. This time at the Holiday Invitational, Littleton backed that performance up with another 6-foot high jump, this time jumping 6-0 to take 7th place overall. Littleton also competed in the Long Jump and Triple Jump, where he had a HUGE breakthrough in the Triple Jump of 40-3, 5 feet farther than what he jumped at Magic City and overtaking Meridian's Jonathan Vaughn, a 2021 state qualifier in the Triple Jump, for the #1 spot in the state. It is clear that Littleton will play a big role in Clinton's field squad this season.
Triple Jump
Alongside Littleton in the Triple Jump was Aniya Madkin, the 2021 MHSAA 6A Triple Jump State Champion, where she edged out 2 more indoor PR's in the Triple Jump and the Long Jump. Madkin jumped 34-8.5 for a runner-up finish in the Triple Jump at the Holiday Invitational, along with a 15-9.25 in the Long Jump for an 8th place finish in the Long Jump. She PR'd by 1 inch in both events, as well as keeping her improving her #10 All-time mark in the Indoor Triple Jump. This has been 2 very successful weekends for Madkin across all 3 jumps as she is currently leading the state in all 3 jumps, and it will be very exciting to see what is next for the Clinton High School star.
Joining Madkin in the 34's for the first time in her career was Eleanor Scott, jumping 34-2 for a huge PR and good for 3rd place. Scott and Madkin are both potentially looking to jump on the podium in the Triple Jump this year, and who knows... maybe even a 1-2 finish!
Pole Vault
Moving over to the Pole Vault Action, we saw state qualifier Kennedi Mccord out of Clinton High School jump 10-0 for a huge indoor PR, essentially tying her Outdoor PR! As a matter of fact, this would have been one of McCord's best performances in the outdoor circuit last year. McCord, just like seemingly all of Clinton High School, is in some really good shape early on in the season will surely be going after that 10-6 mark soon.
Shot Put
Lastly, closing things out for us is the Indoor State Record Holder in the Shot Put (I know, I've mentioned this a lot - It's a big deal!!), Meagan Womack out of Clinton High School! Womack again competed in the Shot Put at the Holiday Invitational, and although it may not have been the fireworks that we saw at Magic City, it was still an extremely impressive performance of 34-0.5 and a Top-5 finish overall. As a matter of fact, this throw would have still made #2 All-Time not including her state record performance - SCARY!!! It is clear from her performances so far on the indoor circuit that Womack has been putting in the work in the offseason, and she will be a force to be reckoned with this outdoor season.
