2021 Garmin RunningLane XC Championships Preview: HS Boys

Keegan Leverett - Saint Stanislaus High School - Silver Division

15:37 PR

2021 All-MileSplit Team Member (Ranked #1)

Winner of 2021 Watson, MHSAA 3A XC, and the Meet of Champions.

I could go on and on about this guy, but it wouldn't be anything we haven't heard before. Leverett is a very consistent racer who is a big-time gamer - Someone who raises his level and races the field. Expect Leverett to take a crack at not only Sub-16 tomorrow, but potentially go for the Win in the Silver Division.

Grayson Childress - Brookhaven High School - Silver Division

15:40 5k PR (has run that twice this year)

2021 MHSAA 5A XC State Champion

Broke the Mississippian course record at Jesse Owens

Winner of 2021 Saltillo Invitational and The Opener

2021 All-MileSplit Team Member (Ranked #2)

Sam Arnold - Brookhaven High School - Silver Division

15:47 5k PR

2021 MHSAA 5A XC Runner-up

2nd place at the Mississippi Meet of Champions

Was a Top 2 Mississippian in every cross country race this year

2021 All-MileSplit Team Member (Ranked #3)

Arnold and Childress being in the same division as each other is great news. As long as they work together, navigate the first mile, and simply move through the field, I think they could end up with an outstanding result. Arnold simply doesn't have a bad day, so like I said earlier, if he and Childress can stick together, they should be ready for a big PR.

Jaheim Bridges - Tupelo High School - Silver Division

15:50 5k PR

2021 MHSAA 6A XC Runner-Up

3rd place at the Mississippi Meet of Champions

2021 All-MileSplit Team Member (Ranked #5)

Another very consistent racer as of late as he has broken 16 3 times the second half of his season, Jaheim Bridges of Tupelo. He has flipped the switch ever since the Saltillo Invitational, running 16:11 the following week and then breaking Chase Rose's course record at Pontotoc running 15:57. With Bridges running as well as he does at Choctaw Trails, I could definitely see him breaking 15:30 tomorrow.

Cooper Parmer - Pontotoc High School - Silver Division

16:01 5k PR

2021 MHSAA 4A State Champion

4th place at the Mississippi Meet of Champions

2021 All-MileSplit Team Member (Ranked #7)

The last Mississippi runner in the Silver Division, and also a big name that can definitely break 16 for the first time, is the MHSAA 4A Cross Country State Champion Cooper Parmer. Parmer, much like Bridges, flipped a switch after the Saltillo Invitational. Parmer has run under 16:10 3 times
