Jaguar Trails Classic
Another huge meet that has a loaded field is the Jaguar Trails Classic. In the boy's race, Brookhaven High School's squad is coming into this meet looking to further capitalize on the success that they achieved at the Jesse Owens Classic in Alabama. Brookhaven's Grayson Childress (15:40.11) and Sam Arnold (15:49.96) come into this race seeded as the top 2 fastest runners this season in the state of Mississippi. Jonathan Phillips and Tanner Moore will be leading the charge for Pearl High School's boy's team after coming off of a bye week refreshed and looking to compete against Brookhaven.
Other runners to look out for include Jake Thompson, Christian Parks, Ben Owens, and definitely keep an eye out for William Fugate.
A very competitive team and individual race are slated for the girls' race. Pearl's girls' team is looking to have a successful day with Clinton High chasing a second-place spot, along with a loaded top 5 individual race as well. Going into this race, the top 5 girls 5k times average 20:33, with only a few seconds (and milliseconds) of separation in between. Shana Sellers from Pearl and Emily Ireland of St. Andrews will be the front runners for the race, coming in with seeded times of under 20 minutes for the 5k.
