Chase Rose, Oxford High
There are some top-ranked runners in the Gold Division of Saturdays Watson High School Meet. From Louisana, Ruston High brings Dyllon Nimmers and Caleb Babineaux both have run under 16 minutes for 3 miles. As a team, all of their top five are all under the 17-minute barrier.
Christian Balcer, East Central
Eight of top ten runners from Mississippi will be there including both sub 16-minute runner will compete in the gold division. Chase Rose, Oxford High, and Christian Balcer, East Central will lead the Mississippi runner for this race.
In the team race for boys, I have to go with Ruston High over Brookhaven High.
Julia Stradinger, Jackson Prep
In the girls' division, five of the top ten Mississippi girls runners will compete for the top spot. Leading Mississippi is Julia Stradinger, Jackson Preparatory with a 19:22.68 over 5K. Julia is ranked third in Mississippi.
Number 5 ranked Mia Dawson, Lafayette High with a 19:26.90.
Riley Jackson, Hernando
Riley Jackson, Hernando High has run 19:38.30 and is ranked eighth. Layla Warren, Simpson Academy is ranked ninth at 19:38.79.
Rounding out Mississippi runners in the top ten is Shana Sellers, Pearl high at number ten with a 19:43.82. Among the other Mississippi runners under 20 minutes Abi Alden Benton, Madison Ridgeland who should have an influence over the top racers she has run 19:54.80
Ruston High brings Lily Garrett ranked 4th in Louisana at three miles with a 19:16.81. They also have Marina Givens ranked 9th with a three-mile time of 19:35.20.
With the withdrawal of Saltillo High from the meet the team race is going to be a dogfight. In fact, this old coach would not like to even guess as to who will win the Gold Division.
