In Jackson this morning Gov Tate Reeves announced that state public schools will be closed until April 17th. This is to curb the spread of coronavirus.
This will have an impact on Track & Field and other spring sports. The decision on wether spring sport will be held is up to the decision of the Mississippi High School Activities Association. We will update this report when we get firm word on the status of spring sports.
The Midsouth Association of Independent Schools control the private schools in Mississippi and some in Louisiana and Arkansas. These schools are closed until March 29th but I expect an announcement about the Governors decision will be forth coming. Again Mississippi MileSpilt will up date and decisions that have an impact on Track & Field.
