Regional Week And Weather Not A Good Mix

It is a shame when a Regional meet is cancelled due to a lack of teams participating. Maybe it is time for the MHSAA to start requiring participation in a Regional meet to be able to compete at State. Now in my opinion teams should have to participate in at least three meets prior to the Region meet. Only meet that would count are ones where the results are posted on MileSplit.

Meets on the 22nd good luck with that as the weather might not cooperate.

Tuesday Oct 22nd

MAIS Overall XC Meet

Great racing with some top teams showing where they are at the end of the regular season. Look for sub 17  minute times from some of the boys like Chase Rose, Kirk, Ryan Skates, Cathedral and Jacob Williams, Presbyterian Christian. All three race in different classifications so they will have to do it on their own. On the girls side there are two under twenty minutes. Julia Stradinger, Jackson Preparatory leads the MAIS and is in Class AAAAA while Breann Bell, Central  Holmes is in Class AAA and ranks second overall.

MHSAA Region 1-3A is held at Booneville High School and may escape the rain but probably not. In the boys race Jes Patrick, Kossuth leads with a 17:20.81 and should win. For the girls Katie Meeks, Kossuth leads with a 19:40.39 ahead of her sister Ava Meeks who has a 19:52.58.

MHSAA District 5-6-7 races originally schedules over several day now will all be run on Thursday with several several groups running together.

The first ever MHSAA Middle School Classic will be held on Wednesday with schools divided into three classes as previously published. Look for some top runners here to be available to their high school teams before State.

MHSAA Region 2-4A will be held Wenesday at Pontotoc with Micahela Lopez, Pontotoc leading the way with 20:35.93. In the boys race look for Cooper Parmer, Pontotoc, 17:08.71 to lead his team to a possible perfect score of 15 meet.

Thursday will be a busy day throughout the state.

he MHSAA Distirct 5-6-7 meet will be at Clinton and Choctaw Trails

MHSAA Southern Regional Championships will bring all the teams in the southern part of the state to George Country. This multi Region meet will contest over the George County trail on a course that is slightly harder than the State Meet. Runners here could look to run even faster at Choctaw Trails.

MHSAA Region 4-4A will be held at the Okatibbee Damn site in Collinsville. The teams will run what is called the Fast Track course due one less hill and the finish on a flat loop on the bottom level. Look for some faster times at this race. Alonzo Henry, Choctaw Central brings a strong 17:13.06 to the boys race here. in the girls race it is a pair of teammates in Emma Claire James 19:45.60 and Emily Snodgrass 19:52.90 from West Lauderdale who will set the pace,

MHSAA Region 1-4A and Region 2-1A will be held at Blue Mountain College. Parker Legoff, Corinth looks to be the top runner here with a 16:39.60 time.
