The number of girls on the list that do not have times from last year is due to the MAIS switching their girls to the 5K. Brooklyn Biancamano, Long Beach leads the list in time and has a 27.43 second improvement over last year. Katelyn Cartwright, Hernando in second has improved her last years time by 19.28 second. In third is Julia Stradinger, Jackson Preparatory leads the large MAIS contingent in third place with her first sub 20 minute time. The biggest improvement is Molly Johnson, Corinth who has a whopping 12:55.1 second improvement over her time at Tupelo last year.
As this year continues it looks like the girls will out do the boys with improving times. I hope to see Mississippi get to the levels of some of the surrounding states with many girls under the 18, 19 and 20 minute barriers.
