Top pole vaulter returning is Jc Polk from Jackson Preparatory at 13'6". I wish I had a picture of him vaulting. Michael Franks, Clinton is second by virtue of a quarter of an inch over Landes Purnell, Madison Ridgeland who is the cover photo. Vaulting needs competition and is growing after taking off the minimum height limit. Some coaches figured out if the can get a few vaulters to learn the basics they can score points at the District Meet. While this is not the perfect reason it has gotten a few more interested in the event. What we really needs are a few more schools to open their pole vault pits to other schools so that more can learn how to vault safely.
